In our Old World vs. New World-class, we take our students on a historical journey exploring the origins of wines, including distinct differences in the winemaking process for each period. Our class will transport you to the Old World, where wines originating from European countries, including North Africa and Middle Eastern regions, are explored. Our New World wines include brands from Australia, South Africa, and North America. Allow us to take you all around the world and to broaden your horizons when learning about distinguishing wine factors. By gaining an understanding of wine origins and production, we hope to support a deeper appreciation for worldly wines.
Our exclusive All White Everything Class is designed to provide intimate experiences learning of the truest white wines. Whether a social event or pairing with your next meal, we help you determine some of the world’s leading white wines and how best to enjoy its distinct flavors. The purpose of this class is to help you understand the varieties of white wine. Along your journey, we hope that you will develop a unique flavor profile and discover your very own love of white wine. While we explore the different wine styles, we do not promote specific producers. This allows for a broad spectrum and enjoyable class.
Introducing some of the most respected types of red wines, our All Red Everything class pays tribute to premium quality, flavorful, and the smoothest of red wines. Wine Spencer introduces a range of wines to taste, to identify varying fragrances, and to learn of your appreciation for specific red wine production. From savory to sweet, we introduce several options for red wine tasting with an introductory background on each type. From the popular Cabernet Sauvignon to the Merlot, Sangiovese, and the Pinot Noir, we take you on a memorable wine tasting journey in which premium red wines are introduced, explored, and savored.

In this class we will cover the top sparkling wine producers around the world, the two primary methods used to make sparkling wine, and which regions offer the best value for sparkling wines.

Join us on an South African Wine Tour as we explore the diverse wines of this New World wine region. In this class you will gain an in- depth understanding of the different South African wine regions, learn about the Pinotage grape and other popular grapes used for winemaking, and why South African wines are of great value.
Uncover the history behind your favorite Portuguese wines. We will learn how each wine region’s unique climate contributes to the distinct taste of Portuguese wines and the grape varietals only found in Portugal. You’ll leave this class ready to plan your own trip to Portugal to explore this Old World wine region for yourself.
The start of many Black winemakers in the wine industry began with a passion for wine they decided to share with the world. Wine Spencer offers an unparalleled opportunity to learn more about the top Black winemakers in the industry. We offer wines from around the world and present each region, the climate, the terroir, and how it all contributes to the distinctive winemaking style of the producer. You will leave this class much more knowledgeable about Black winemakers contribution to the industry and a deeper appreciation for Black winemakers.
Celebrate the women of the wine world with this class focusing on women winemakers from around the world. We’ll start with Barbe-Nicole and how in 1805 she turned Veuve Clicquot into the worldwide brand it is today. From there we will learn about modern day winemakers from South America, South Africa, and the United States who are blazing new trails in the male-dominated wine industry.
You’ve heard of Old World and New World, but what about Ancient World? Our ancient world wines class is perfect for those interested in learning about ancient wine-making traditions from countries like Georgia, Turkey, Lebanon, and Greece. We will discuss how these ancient world countries are able to combine ancient techniques and modern wine-making practices for the modern wine enthusiast. If you love history and wine, this class is for you!
Wine Spencer prides itself on providing clients with a wine tasting experience that suits any occasion. We can customize events for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, walk-around tastings or custom wine classes.
We will build your wine list and offer wine pairings suggestions for your most popular menu items, Restaurant Week offerings or seasonal specials. We specialize in curating wine dinners where each course is paired with a different wine complementing the flavors and ingredients of each dish.
As you work with your clients to prepare for their culinary needs, allow Wine Spencer to take care of all your wine service needs. We will work with you to curate a wine menu that complements food for bridal showers, engagement parties and wedding day menus. As someone who is new to wine, the Wine Spencer tasting was a great opportunity to learn more about the various types of Rose wine, and what flavors I like. Using Wine Spencer to plan such a milestone birthday for myself (30!) was amazing! They were flexible and helped my guest find the relevant wines for the party. I’m so happy I found Wine Spencer. I was looking for a fun and safe way to celebrate my birthday with friends and this was the perfect event. Shayla led us through a virtual Black owned wine tasting of three wines. I loved all the little touches – making sure each guest would be able to order the wines (and even going as far to call a local wine store to make sure one guest could get them), sending cheese and meat pairings ahead of time, and providing the history of Black owned wine making and trivia throughout the event. We all had an amazing time and I would 100% do another tasting with Wine Spencer.
Due to the pandemic, I was charged to find a “safe” way to celebrate my birthday with friends. Well, Shaunna from Wine Spencer helped me to do just that! She conducted a virtual wine tasting that took me and my guests to California, France, Italy, and Spain. She was able to customize our experience to my preferences with ease.
